Our friends organised Saturday lunch at The Lighterman. It is located in the trendy regenerated area of King’s Cross. The Lighterman offers modern British cuisine and has 3 areas i) Ground floor ii) First floor and iii) Bar. There is also a great view of Regent’s Canal and Granary Square.
When we walked in, we saw a modern interior with minimalist Scandinavian influenced furniture. The atmosphere was buzzy and we were taken to our table which was on the ground floor near the bar.
To start, we shared a couple of Margarita flatbreads, crispy squid with sweet chilli and pea croquettes. Be careful with the Margarita flatbreads, they are very addictive!
For mains, I had a pan roasted chalk stream trout with broad beans, peas, jersey royals and lemon butter sauce. It was not too heavy in my stomach which is why I chose it as we had a friend’s birthday to attend at the Royal Automobile Club that same evening. Tony had the burger which he demolished.
For desserts, we had a passion fruit cheesecake and merengue with berries. That just tipped me over into a food coma!
Address: 3 Granary Square, London N1C 4BH
